White roses, to me, are a must in a garden for there is nothing more beautiful than green & white in a garden (to me). While you can certainly choose some stunning white rose specimens like ‘Pope John Paul II‘, I like to mix them with some work horse white roses. The ‘Rosa Iceberg‘ is that white rose for me. The Iceberg is a white floribunda rose cultivar bred by Reimer Kordes in Germany in 1958.
The Iceberg rose is one of the first roses to bloom in the garden and it continues to bloom and bloom and bloom all year long. They open in March or April and we don’t cut them back until January. And while the flowers are relatively small, the beauty of this rose is in the delicacy of the individual flowers and the number of the flowers on each plant.
Try cutting several stems of these roses and putting them in a tall, slender vase for a simple and beautiful arrangement.
