Fruit Trellis Sculptures

We built new fruit trellises this year in hopes of creating espaliered raspberry bushes, Thompson seedless grape vines, and Bearss seedless lime trees. I adapted a design that I found on the Internet to my planting space. We used pressure treated wood for the posts for longevity, and grounded them in concrete for stability. We layered hog wire across the posts to support the plants. The trellises allow these climbing plants to grow both up and out while also keeping them contained and organized. These structures also make it easier to cover the fruit with bird netting so we get a bigger harvest.

As an added bonus, the trellises resemble garden sculptures that will last for many years.
