Peace and quiet in Lecce

My husband and I drove from our hotel to Lecce, which was about an hour south along the coastline, in the Puglia region of Italy. Our small map ran out of map, so when we arrived in Lecce we simply followed signs to ‘centro’ to get our bearings. As we were winding our way through the streets of Lecce we discovered a beautiful garden and promptly parked our car.

We happened upon the Villa Communale (‘Public Garden’) – a lovely and peaceful park. You can sit on one of the many park benches and take a respite from the day’s hectic activities. The square park property has symmetrical walkways that traverse the park, with a lovely domed structure in the center. Water fountains enhance the peacefulness of the park, creating that meditative water sound that soothes the mind.

What a wonderful surprise to happen upon this peaceful spot in the heart of Lecce.
