Holiday Wreaths

My great friend Laura Perry makes these beautiful wreaths. She is a very talented writer as well as a great gardener. Laura’s garden in spring is one of the most beautiful I have seen with the integration of beautiful stone walls, fountains and hard-scape softened by a variety of roses, bulbs, flowering plants and vegetable beds.   For my birthday, she made me one of her fabulous wreaths.

I asked her why she makes these wreaths.

“Making wreaths is my creative outlet while taking a break from writing. And hiking is my meditative outlet from the wonderful maelstrom of life.  Foraging in the woods to bring the outside beauty inside is a natural for me. I am in awe of nature and the juxtaposition of color – autumn leaves against bright moss branches, tri-colored oak galls and acorns atop mottled bark, dark, rich pinecones next to warm coppery mushrooms. Naturally dried in the woods, these year-round wreaths bring the beauty and tranquility of the wild inside.”
