A White Christmas in Sun Valley

When I think of Christmastime, I think of cold weather, snowflakes, snow capped mountains and evergreens, raging fires in a fireplace, bundling up to walk the dogs through the snowy roads and reading by a fire.

And that’s precisely why we come to Ketchum/Sun Valley, Idaho right before the holidays – to have a little White Christmas. It’s so cozy and Christmas-y here!

Sue Bridgeman, a local florist (and so much more) places a few holiday touches around our home before we arrive, like this Christmas Amaryllis.

Above our fireplace is a light dusting of pine needles, pine cones and red Christmas berries – so simple, natural and pretty.

My dear friend Kate sent us a wonderful gift of gardenias from High Camp – one of the most spectacular gifts you could send anyone. (For more information, check out my post about High Camp). We received a beautiful green box FILLED with fresh-cut gardenias. I floated them in four different bowls and put one each in the living room, kitchen, powder room and on my husband’s nightstand. The house smells fantastic!

Around town one can see signs of Christmas everywhere. At Cristina’s for breakfast this morning, we enjoyed her festive decorations throughout her restaurant. What caught my eye was this large natural wreath with snow flakes falling all around it. Beautiful!

My favorite thing to see are the snow-capped evergreens, which are thankfully everywhere this year.

There are wreaths and other decorations at many doors and entryways throughout Sun Valley and Ketchum. I thought these were particularly pretty with the combination of evergreen cuttings, pinecones, Christmas berries, fruit and ornaments.

Enjoy your Christmas season wherever the holidays take you!
