Pike Place Market

We arrived in Seattle on Monday for our Garden Conservancy trip to see the lovely gardens in the Seattle area. We hit the jackpot on weather – it’s sunny and warm!

Alex and I strolled down to the famous Pike Place Market to see all of the action we’d always heard about. It’s famous for its fresh fish and the entertainment vendors provide selling their fish. In addition to fish, one can find a farmers market full of gorgeous produce, crafts, specialty foods and restaurants. It’s a bevy of activity!

What astonished me was the discovery of the beautiful flowers, and especially the most striking peonies I’ve ever seen anywhere. They are glorious – and huge! I knew peonies came from the northwest, but I had no idea that I would see so many and such beautiful varieties. Peonies are my favorite flower…

We were there in the late afternoon, so I can only imagine what the scene is like first thing in the morning. Clearly this market is a must-visit for those spending time in Seattle.
