Roses for the shade

I received a wonderful email from David Austin last week advertising five roses that they recommend for shadier spots in our gardens. I have a few of those in my Napa Valley garden and am going to have to try some of these roses to see how they do. Not only are the colors of these roses lovely, but the flowers themselves. I wanted to share these with you and see if you’ve had success with these particular varieties in your shady areas.

I know my friend Helen has had success with Gertrude Jekyll, pictured immediately below, in her Maine garden. They are stunning roses.

Gertrude Jekyll (English Shrub Rose)

Pilgrim (English Climbing Rose)

Lady of Shallot (English Shrub Rose)

Princess Alexandra of Kent (English Shrub Rose)

The Generous Gardener (English Climbing Rose)

Aren’t these spectacular roses? The great news is that if you order before March 3, 2017, you will receive 15% off if you use their code ULC.
