Peak of the Roses

Every spring, there is a moment when our roses are at their absolute peak and this year the moment was May 3-4. The weekend before when friends were with us in Oakville was almost the peak. The following weekend when other friends were with us was just after the peak. It’s amazing that a few days can make such a difference.

Our Graham Thomas roses were out in full bloom displaying their beautiful buttery yellow blooms.

Our Over the Moon apricot-colored roses which are larger than any other rose in our garden, came out in full force.

Evelyn, one of the two most fragrant roses in our garden (along with Pope John Paul II) displayed their old-fashioned romantic flowers.

Cecilia, which was planted after our granddaughter was born with the same name, has the most beautiful flower and with so few of them in our garden, I was thrilled to be reconnected with this special rose.

White roses are my husband’s favorite and I planted these beautiful Pope John Paul II roses several years ago. They never fail to impress visitors to our garden for their beauty and fragrance.

Gold Medal shows the most color it will display all summer long, during the first bloom, so they are always extra special in the spring.

Experiencing the peak of our rose garden in the spring is one of my favorite moments all year long!
