What a wonderful and chance encounter at Clearview Winery in Hawkes Bay. Tim Turvey, the inspiring owner, greeted us as soon as we arrived and we got an animated tour of everything he has built there – winery with many varieties of grapes, an interesting cave, vegetable garden, fruit garden and restaurant which uses all of the produce from the property. After the tour, we enjoyed a wonderful lunch in the open-air outdoor patio of his restaurant. The food was unexpectedly terrific, and the space comfortable and casual. My favorite thing on the menu was the tomato, basil and homemade mozarella salad – soooo fresh! Tim spoiled us with many pours of the different wines he sells there. I think Clearview is a must-stop if you’re in the area.
