One of the most exciting events of the year is the arrival of David Austin bare root roses. I got my email announcement yesterday and went online to see their roses this morning. They have a wonderful site that allows you to select filters (rose category, flower type and color). I chose the category ‘English Roses’, all types – double full bloom, semi-double and single, and the colors apricot, peach, orange & copper. I already have plenty of my favorite color – yellow.
I found several beautiful roses, many of which are new this year, so I ordered a few. This goes against by usual, which is planting the same ones over and over. I am actually in the mood to try a few new roses to see how they look in my border. One of the new ones I’ll be receiving is the beautiful Shepherdess above.
Be sure to jump on the site early as they sell out quickly. I noticed that two I liked were already sold out!
