Forni-Brown is open!

It’s the beginning of April which means Forni-Brown in Calistoga is open to the public for a cherished 6 weeks before being exclusively available to local restaurants. What is Forni-Brown? It’s an small adorable nursery with fantastic organic vegetable starts and seeds.

Visit the tomato section and discover – easily – 60 different varieties of tomatoes. Peruse the pepper section and you’ll find 30 different varieties of peppers. The cucumber section is loaded with varieties you’ve never heard of and the squash section must have 30 different kinds of squash plants. It’s vegetable nirvana!

Vicki and I love making the annual pilgrimage together, but due to our hectic schedules this year Vicki had to plant her vegetable garden before Forni-Brown opened (boo hoo) and I went by myself as soon as it opened this morning (at 8:30!).

Stop by and meet one of the many gardeners running the place who will share their favorite varieties and gardening tips with you. They couldn’t be more helpful. Even though I made my purchases for the summer today, I’m sure I’ll find myself back at Forni-Brown before the season ends. It’s such a special place.
